There has been a lot of discussion on Black Lives Matters and where the Catholic Church stands on issues of racism. Our Catholic Doctrine has a lot for us to soberly consider. We offer two different articles on Black Lives Matter from Archbishop Lori of Baltimore and Bishop Mark Seitz of El Paso Texas. These two Bishops offer us two different viewpoints on Black Lives Matter from a Catholic perspective. Pope Francis called and affirmed Bishop Mark Seitz for going to a prayer service against racism and holding a Black Lives Matter Sign. Our Holy Father has shown a real concern and affirmation to faithful Catholics and Church leaders who stand nonviolently against racism and choose to support, from a Catholic Social Teaching background, Black Lives Matter. These articles are for consideration and conversation.
