Join us in giving a warm welcome to Dr. Emilie Amt, an award-winning writer and historian. Dr. Amt will be speaking at St. Agnes and will cover the following topics:

  • The history of slavery in our area and how the Civil War affected both free and enslaved Blacks who lived here.
  • How she became devoted to African American history.
  • A review of historical and racial justice efforts, including the restoration of the Halfway African American Cemetery outside of Hagerstown, and the Tolson Chapel in Sharpsburg.

Her most recent book, Black Antietam, is available in the racial justice library in the church narthex or is available for purchase on Amazon.

The presentation is open to the public.
