We at the St. Agnes Conference of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) provide direct financial assistance to parishioners and residents of Jefferson County experiencing financial hardships, to include assistance with rent, utilities, medical bills and other similar expenses. We do this in an effort to provide a hand up, not a handout.

The St. Agnes SVdP works on a referral basis, through the pastor of St Agnes, St. Agnes parishioners, and referrals from Catholic Charities WV, Martinsburg, and Jefferson County Community Ministries (JCCM).

Once referred, information is gathered by a two-person team that visits the applicant in their home at a mutually agreed time and date. Funding is primarily provided through a tithe donation from St Agnes and donations from individual St. Agnes parishioners. We also receive donations from other SVdP conferences in West Virginia that operate thrift stores for the purpose of raising money for the SVdP conferences in West Virginia.

The St Agnes Conference of SVdP was started on June 11, 2012, with five parishioners present for the first meeting. At that time Mike Vojtasko was elected President and John Stollery was appointed Vice President. Currently our conference has seven active members, including our spiritual advisor.

St. Vincent de Paul is always looking for additional volunteers, so let us know if you’re interested in becoming a member. We meet once a month at the St. Agnes Parish Center on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM.
